At 23 years of age, I was excited to begin my special education teaching career armed with big ideas, lots of positive enthusiasm, and energy! Who would have thought that my ideas would be challenged through out my first year and that I would actually be disliked and even avoided!!

 

When I started at my school site most of my coworkers were on their way out to retirement or have been there for 20+ years. I was the new Special Education teacher and I had one goal to include all students. This is not an easy concept for most people to grasp and my story has failed attempts and frustrations. But this journey is also filled with successful inclusion, friendships, and proving people wrong.  I am teacher based in California and constantly striving for ALL students to feel included in their community.
