April showers brings May flowers

Week 1

April activities were all filled with Spring activities. We started with the rain. This was a very simple activity. I googled "umbrella coloring page," had all the kids color the umbrellas, cut it out, glue onto a piece of paper, and then cut out rain drops from aluminum foil sheets to glue on.

Week 2

What comes after the rain?? A rainbow! All I did was draw a colorless rainbow and the students ripped up paper and glued them on. Afterwards I had them create a fun quote to put on the top of their paper. These are some examples to the right!

Week 3

After a rainbow comes then there are flowers. Obviously we had to make some flowers. Again, this was a very simple activity. I drew a flower and all of the kids ripped up tissue paper and glued it on their flower. All of these art activities were hung up in our hallway to welcome Spring!

Dance Class

This month we had a week of for Spring Break so we made Buddy Class 10 minutes longer and added a dance class. I had a student teacher and she brought choreography for three types of dances, Hawaiian (roller coaster ride song from Lilo and Stitch), Bollywood, and a Pilipino dance routine (we thought this worked best with my school's population). The students LOVED it! We had them all buddy up and practiced the dances altogether.
